In 1845 John Clarke is listed as a Corn and Coal Merchant. In 1846
William Fendick is also listed as a Grocer and Draper they both continue
to be listed until 1863 when Samuel Clarke is also listed as a Maltster.
In 1865 John Clarke is listed as a general Merchant but no Mention of
William Fendick. By 1868 John Clarke is listed as a Corn & Coal, Oil,
Cake Wine and Spirit Ale and Porter Merchant at Staithe House and Samuel
Clarke is also listed as a Maltster at the same address. This continues
up until 1879 When John Clarke is listed as a Coal Merchant and Farmer
and Samuel Clarke is listed as a Maltster still. There is no mention of
either in the 1888 Directory. |
